Lignocellulosic
biomass represents a renewable and abundant resource for sustainable
bio-based products. However, the high lignin content in wood hinders
efficient biomass utilization. Traditional chemical pretreatments often
involve harsh conditions and generate toxic by-products, which limit
environmental and industrial applicability.
This project explores
the application of Novel Alkaline Laccases as a green, enzymatic alternative
for biomass pretreatment. These enzymes operate under mild conditions,
enabling the selective degradation of lignin while preserving the natural
structure of cellulose and maintaining a high hemicellulose content.
Furthermore, Alkaline Laccases offer the advantage of biodegradability and
function without hazardous substances, aligning with principles of green
chemistry and sustainable processing.
