I have been working in the field of sustainable biomaterials for over a decade, with a focus on solid wood, cellulose nanomaterials, and mycelium-based materials.My wood research covers wood modification and protection, especially hydrophobic modification using wax and plant-oil emulsions; large-scale transparent wood for sustainable building applications; and wood surface properties and the wettability of bio-adhesives.I am also committed to developing cellulose nanomaterials for sustainable food packaging and solid-state batteries. In collaboration with colleagues, we use mycelium to develop advanced functional films.
