PhD project: Functional lignin nanoparticles for energy storage
Project:
Supervisor: Ziyauddin Khan
Dissertation planned to: 2027-01-01
Research area:
My reasearch area explores hydrothermal carbonization (HTC), a process that converts biomass into coal-like hydrochar using water under moderate temperature and pressure conditions. The focus is on utilizing lignosulfonate, a byproduct of lignin, as the feedstock due to its ability to enhance solubility and act as an acid catalyst, creating a favorable reaction environment. The study aims to optimize HTC conditions, analyze structural changes in the hydrochar, and enhance its functional characteristics for battery applications.
