My research focuses on understanding the formation, biochemical composition, physico-chemical properties and physiological roles of plant woody biomass, at the cellular and subcellular levels in whole plants, which enable land and marine grasses, shrubs and trees to both cope with climatic challenges (drought, wind, waterlogging,..) and produce the primary multipurpose feedstock for a sustainable bioeconomy.
